Krog Street Market, a bustling burst of energy on the Beltline, experienced a misfire in a couple of its initial anchor restaurant offerings including the demise of the Cockentrice.  I always liked liked the restaurant but understood why the public probably could not connect with it.  Confusing to pronounce and named for a medieval dish where a suckling pig is sewn onto the body of a turkey.  Not exactly an enticing image.

Bar Mercado, inspired by Madrid’s Mercado de San Miguel, storms into the market in a gorgeous reboot of the space, offering up meats, cheeses and tapas from multiple regions of Spain including crispy artichokes with lemon-garlic aioli; braised octopus with potato, pickled onion, chive and vizcaina sauce; flakey empanadas filled with sweet pork cheek and golden raisin; and beef meatballs served with tomato, mushroom and purple kale.
